I grew up in an entrepreneurial family, where it was once thought that traveling or driving a tour bus would have been something I would have been brought up on. That was almost a good thought! Hospitality and organization are part of my heritage and this has become very clear to me over the past 15 years during my education and career. Up to three times I have been on the verge of making the next step. Yet this always took a different turn – even though it was with the best and right intentions – it did not quite suit me.
Meanwhile, in my career, within the hospitality and event industry, I have overcome considerable challenges and dilemmas. Dealing with crises. Difficult relationships with both clients and suppliers. Ghost companies that turned out not to exist. At the same time, I also experienced many personal challenges and growth in my career. I quit my job in the family business, after which I found myself in a new world, which I was able to shape to my liking within a short period of time. I also had many opportunities during my career that I seized with both hands. I am extremely grateful to my family, employers and everyone who contributed to this!
The consequences of all the changes? Under all the pressure I managed to stay positive and turn situations around for the better. I was able to make full use of the opportunities I was given. I continue to grow.
Then we are still in a miserable storm of this pandemic. The world is in transformation, or so it feels to me. And me? Me too. Unfortunately, every transformation comes with hefty obstacles and sometimes with violent thunderstorms, just like a real storm. Or with radio silence: so quiet that you begin to doubt everything.
I see my past as a beautiful lawn, with several seeds of beautiful wildflowers. The field flowers are in full bloom and the sun is high. Because of this pandemic, my lawn was watered and more seeds germinated this spring. “Wait a minute! Is there a beautiful tree growing?” Slowly the “Zoom” of the bees returns to the beautiful lawn, the wildflowers reappear. And the tree? It is growing but is still very small!
Over 4 years ago now, I started our foundation Smiling Child of The Gambia together with Mark. Where we dedicate ourselves to our (underprivileged) children in primary education within The Gambia. In this period I have learned that it is my passion to contribute substantially to everyone’s life! To want to make a difference, to bring about change. “Be the cause, not the effect!”
After reflecting during the pandemic I realized, that I would like to do business based on my core values; love, respect, interest and success. With appropriate accountability for social issues such as sustainability, social impact and inclusion.
Thus arose for me the necessary urge to establish Creators of Live, a creative consulting and organizing agency with strongly rooted expertise in ‘live’ communication and ‘live’ events. Where we transform business and private issues into win-win situations: for stunning and sustainable live experiences!
